There are 289 known species of squirrels in the world, perhaps there are species of squirrel in the world we haven't discovered yet, as knew species of mammals are still being found to this day.
Protecting ecosystems like forests will help protect animals like squirrels.
Squirrels are important for forest ecosystems, as new trees will grow with the nuts they have buried in the ground.
