46% Of People Would Like To See Wildcats Reintroduced In The UK

Wildcat

A YouGov poll has revealed the animals that people would most like to see return to the wild in the UK, with wildcats being one of the top animals.

Wildcats are Britain's most endangered mammal. Today, Scottish wildcats are critically endangered. Wildcats were also once found in England and Wales. There are now new plans to bring back wildcats to England.

Wildcats are also one of the top animals that people in the UK would like to see reintroduced into Britain, with 46% of people saying they want wildcats reintroduced into the wild of Britain.

This is encouraging news for wildcats and bringing them back to places in the UK where they have been extinct for hundreds of years.

Other animals that people wanted to see be reintroduced are:

. Birds of Prey

. Wading Birds

. Beavers

. Moose

. Wild boar

. Lynxes

. Wolves

. Bison

. Brown bears

Rewilding Britain can help restore Britain's ecosystems. It can also help save animals from going extinct, create a healthier environment, solve the biodiversity crisis and solve the climate crisis.

Species today are becoming extinct much faster than the normal rate of extinction. It is estimated that species are going extinct 1,000 times faster than the natural rate of extinction. Our biodiversity crisis (the loss of plant and animal species) is so massive today that animals are going extinct today at the fastest rate since the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago.

This loss of animal and plant life not only damages animals and the environment, it also damages us to, as we rely on the natural world for our survival.

By rewilding ecosystems like our forests and bringing back animals like wildcats, we can help reverse the biodiversity crisis and stop this sixth mass extinction event.
