2020 has been the sunniest Spring in the UK, according to a new report.
There was more hours of sunshine recorded in the UK this Spring than any other Spring on record, which could signal a change in our environment and climate.
Records to monitor this haven't been in place that long though - they only started in 1929, which means that they have monitored about 91 Springs. Only nine of these seasons beforehand recorded 500 hours of sunshine. However, this year, the UK has seen 573 hours of sunshine.
It seems to be a visible indication of the UK's climate changing.
Climate change is thought to impact the formation of clouds. In one study done, climate change stopped the formation of clouds over the ocean. Therefore, if there are fewer clouds, there is more blue skies and fewer clouds blocking out the sun, which in turn can lead to warmer weather and a shortfall in rain, which probably also explains why there has been less rainfall.
