Excellent News: eBay Bans The Sale Of Ejiao Donkey Skin Products !

Ebay is to ban the sale of ejiao Donkey skin products, after a successful campaign from the Donkey Sanctuary charity. What is ejiao? Ejiao is gelatine that comes from the skin of Donkeys. It is used in things such as Chinese medicine, with a claim that it has health benefits to taking it, according to those who sell it. However, there is no scientific evidence that there are any health benefits when someone takes ejiao. This means, that Donkeys are dying unnecessarily for these medicines. The practice happens in countries in Asia, Africa and South America, but can be bought anywhere, through sites such as eBay. Which means, to end Donkeys being killed for their skins, sites like eBay banning the sale of Donkey skin products is necessary.

In The Middle Of The Night Often the Donkeys can be stolen in the middle of the night and then killed for their skins. Where those skins and skin products are then sold off. This happens in countries such as Pakistan, South Africa and Peru. This means that Donkeys who are stolen, are not slaughtered in licensed slaughterhouses. This would mean that the Donkeys would go through more suffering, than they would through a conventional slaughterhouse. But slaughtering animals causes them suffering either way. Suffering when they are in the slaughterhouse and suffering when they are being transported to the slaughterhouse. To Protect Donkeys

Donkeys are one of the Worlds most exploited and abused animals. It is estimated that there are millions of Donkeys around the World who are exploited and used. The Donkeys are forced to work, usually through carrying things such as bricks and other heavy materials. Considering that these Donkeys are forced to work in countries with tremendous heat, they work in tropical like conditions. Mostly this occurs in poorer countries, which means shows us that animal exploitation and poverty are intertwined.

Therefore, to tackle Donkey abuse and to end them being used as tools for work, tackling poverty is a key issue. If we tackle poverty in the Worlds poorest countries, then we also tackle animal exploitation. Giving This Christmas You can help end animal exploitation by supporting charities such as the Donkey Sanctuary and SPANA. Thank you!
