End Live animal exports after brexit

The EU are currently the ones who make legislation on live animal exports for the UK. Currently it is not illegal for there to be live animal exports within the EU or from EU countries to other countries. This means that it is perfectly legal for countries to transport animals for long distance while they are alive. Often these animals will go without food and water, for as long as 12 hours. Live exports are immensely cruel and create needless suffering. It is estimated by Compassion in World Farming, that there are millions of animals which are transported live from EU countries. The worst thing about this, is that millions of these animals travel long distances from the EU, to Middle Eastern countries. This can mean on some instances, animals are stuck at custom points for days, while waiting for the trucks to enter countries, such as Iraq.

As the UK is coming out of the EU, we have a chance to change our laws on live animal exports. We can persuade the government of the UK, to end this, by signing the petition below. All petitions are considered for debate in the House of Commons, when they reach over 100,000 signatures. Therefore, if we can come together and get enough signatures, then we could see this issue debated in the House of Commons. This would do two things. Firstly, it would draw more public attention to the issue at hand. It would give more awareness to the wider public about how farm animals are transported live around Europe and from Europe to the Middle East. Secondly, we could see live transport in and from the UK banned, if the government and opposition parties choose to ban it. With the government planning CCTV in slaughterhouses, it's possible that they could choose to end farm animal live transportation. If you want to end live animal transportation, then please sign the petition here.
