We've lost 95% of our Tigers in 150 years

The world has lost 95% of its Tigers in the last 150 years.

The WWF estimates that as many as 95% of Tigers have been wiped out. Mostly at the hands of humans. How many Tigers have we lost? At the start of the 20th century, it was estimated that there were 100,000 Tigers in the wild. Today, there are estimated to be 3,890 Tigers remaining in the wild. Leaving them endangered to extinction. But marching towards being critically endangered to extinction, one step away from them becoming extinct in the wild.

Is there any hope for Tigers? Last year conservationists observed how the Tiger population had risen for the first time in a century.

This is optimistic, leading us to currently have 3,890 Tigers in the wild. However, Tigers are still endangered and face many challenges. What challenges do Tigers face? Tigers face a range of challenges in the wild. From being hunted to being used in products such as wine and alternative medicines in China, as well having their home destroyed (their habitat). Tiger habitats have declined as dramatically as Tiger numbers have. The WWF has estimated that 93% of the Tigers habitat has declined over the past century.

What can you do to help Tigers? There are many things that you can do to help the world's wild Tigers. Helping to preserve them and conserve them before it is too late and we lose this majestic animal forever. Here is one way that you can help wild Tigers, become a Tiger Protector.
