MPs from across the country have met this afternoon in Westminster, to discuss Fur Free Britain.
Fur Free Britain is a campaign set-up by the Humane Society.
The aim of the Fur Free Britain campaign is to ban imports of fur into the UK, from other countries.
Is Fur Banned In The UK?
Although fur farming has been banned in the UK since the Fur Farming (Prohibition) Act 2000 came into force, which made it illegal to keep and kill animals for the sole purpose of being used for fur, fur is still sold legally within the UK. Last year, India banned the import of furs from animals such as mink and fox. Could the UK follow India?
Parliament And The Fur Vote
If enough MPs support the campaign of Fur Free Britain, and legislation is brought forward, then, the UK could follow India's footsteps and ban imports on fur from other countries. Though, this ban in the UK is likely to ban the import of any animal fur, rather than being selective.
