Japan has slaughtered over one hundred whales. The whales were killed off the coast of Antarctica. Hundreds of whales have been slaughtered so far.
Of the whales slaughtered, around 120-122 were pregnant female whales. It is estimated that there have been around 333 whales killed in total.
Animal rights activists have condemned the slaughter of these animals.
The Legalities of Whaling
Trading whaling meat is illegal.
The International Whaling Commission banned whaling in 1986. However, despite most countries adhering to the ban, some countries still hunt whales.
Namely, Japan, Norway and Iceland.
Why Is Japan Hunting Whales?
Japan said that these whales were hunted for 'scientific' reasons. Whale meat can also be bought in Japan to eat.
