A Symbol Of Unity Against Bullfighting

Yesterday in Madrid, a symbol of unity against bullfighting was formed.

A strong gathering of 40,000 people took place in Madrid yesterday, against bullfighting. Campaigners gathered yesterday to show their support against bullfighting - they were campaigning against bullfighting.

A Decline In Bullfighting

Thankfully bullfighting is seeing a decline. In 2011, one-third of Spanish people supported bullfighting. In 2016, that number had declined to 19%. And now, only 8% of Spanish people attend bullfighting.

Thankfully bullfighting is seeing a decline. In 2011, one-third of Spanish people supported bullfighting. In 2016, that number had declined to 19%. And now, only 8% of Spanish people attend bullfighting.

This comes on top of regions of Spain voting to ban bullfighting, such as Catalonia and the Canary Islands. Although, the Spanish government did later overrule the Catalonian parliament's decision to ban bullfighting.

The End Is In Sight

The end is in sight for bullfighting. It might take a while for it to be gone completely, but, the tide is turning against this barbaric activity.

With Spanish people becoming more vocal about their condemnation of the bloodsport, with attendance declining, there is only really one thing keeping this horrible activity alive - tourists.

Tourists are keeping it alive. Tourists boards are keeping it alive. If we are finally to end this horrible bloodsport once and for all, it's by persuading tourist boards to stop promoting it. That is proving successful, as several tourists companies have dropped promoting it.

Bulls suffer tremendously for this. It is a public form of torture, not a sport. The torture of every bull who enters the ring will be prolonged for as long as the bull can stand. He is stabbed repeatedly for around 20 minutes, until he finally collapses, no longer able to stand.

His eyes a rubbed with vaseline before a 'fight' begins, he is weakened days before a fight, by being starved of food and bags of grain placed on top of him, to weaken his back. He suffers before he even gets inside of the ring. It doesn't have to be this way though, we can end it.
