Extinction Nears, The Last Male Northern White Dies. All Hope Lost...

The last male Northern White Rhino has died in Kenya.

The Northern White Rhino was the last male Northern White Rhino of their species. There are now only two females of the species left.

The two female Northern White Rhino left are relations of the male rhino which died. They are his daughter and granddaughter.

Sadly, his death is symbolic of the Sixth Mass Extinction, which is happening all over the World. Scientists last year warned that the Earth had entered into a Sixth Mass Extinction.

Humans are the main driving force behind the Sixth Mass Extinction. Human activities such as the destruction of environmental ecosystems, pollution, poaching, hunting and excessive use of fossil fuels etc...are all contributing to wild species of animals (and plants), becoming endangered.

The news today breaking about the last male Northern White Rhino is heartbreaking.

It is also something that should serve as a warning.

The extinction of species is very real, and once they are lost, they are lost forever. If we don't act to preserve wild animals and their habitats, then we will lose them. Although all hope seems lost with the Northern White Rhino, sadly. There is the slim hope that science could save them.

It doesn't have to be that way with other critically endangered and endangered species though. If you don't fight and campaign for their survival, then those animals have one less voice championing them.

They rely on you, me and everyone else to care.

The Northern White Rhino is a symptom of humanities lack of care and lack of compassion for the animals we share this planet with. Our care and compassion for the animals would have the opposite effect.

The Earth belongs to all of us, not just humans. It belongs to the animals just as much as it belongs to humans. Our feelings of superiority over animals, will not just be the downfall of animals, it will be humanities downfall also.
