Rowan trees are one of the most beautiful trees found in the natural world.
Rowan trees are like having 2 trees in 1.
This is due to the transformation that the rowan tree goes through throughout the year. During the springtime and early summer, the rowan tree displays beautiful white flowers, and then during the late summer and early autumn it displays red berries.
Both the flowers and berries are very helpful to wildlife.
Displaying both flowers and berries makes the rowan tree a very good and helpful tree for lots of wild animals - including insects and birds.
When the rowan tree is in full bloom with its flowers, bees, wasps and other flying insects pollinate it - this makes this beautiful tree helpful to insects.
During a time when bees and flying insects are declining dramatically, trees like the rowan tree are very helpful to animals.
Likewise, the berries that this tree develops are also very helpful to wild animals - a single rowan tree will produce (at least) hundreds of berries every August, once the tree is fully mature, this provides an abundance of food for birds, as birds love to eat the berries from rowan trees.
Rowan trees help many different animals during the spring and summer, which is why it is a good idea to plant a rowan tree (or two) in your garden.
They are also beautiful and peaceful to look at.
When you plant the rowan tree (or other trees) you have something beautiful to look at, help wildlife and feel connected with the earth.
The rowan tree is one of my favourite trees, and, during a time of declining biodiversity and climate change, adding trees to your garden will help wildlife and the environment; it is also a great addition to your wildlife-friendly garden.
