Great White Sharks are one of the largest animals in the world today. Great White Sharks grow between 15ft and 20f, meaning that they can grow three times as long as some adult humans.


Great White Sharks are an animal that fascinates us and sometimes strikes fear into us. But even though we can fear these giant animals, Shark attacks and deaths are extremely rare - annually only a small number of people die from Shark attacks, in 2019, there were only two known deaths from Shark attacks. Whereas, the number of Sharks being killed by humans each year is much higher - it is estimated that 100 million Sharks are killed every year by humans.


Despite Sharks being killed in their millions by people each year, these amazing animals still manage to dominate the world’s oceans, as they can be found living within all of the world’s oceans today, though some Shark species are now vulnerable to extinction.


Which is sad, as these unique animals have existed on the earth for millions of years…

Great White Sharks were thought to have evolved millions of years ago. But Sharks themselves have been around much longer than that: Sharks have existed in the world for hundreds of millions of years. It’s thought that the earliest Shark species existed over 400 million years ago.

One of the stand out features of Great White Sharks is their ferocious-looking teeth. Not only are their teeth powerful, but also numerous - Great White Sharks have 300 teeth at any one time. It is also estimated that Great White Sharks go through thousands of teeth in their lifetime.


#2 Great White Sharks Can Live A Long Time





Great White Sharks can live for a long time in the wild. Some animals only live for a few years in the wild, but Sharks can live for many decades in the wild.


It is estimated that Great White Sharks can live up to 70 years in the wild.


#1 Female Sharks Grow Bigger Than Male Sharks





With most animals, it seems to be that the males are bigger and the females are smaller. However, in Great White Sharks, the opposite is true.


Female Great White Sharks grow bigger than the male ones.
