There are not many animals in the world that begin with the letter N.


But.


Some of the world's most unique animals begin with the letter N. We are going to look at some of them here. Here is a list of the top 10 animals that begin with the letter N.



#10 Natterjack Toad



Natterjack Toads can be found in some parts of Europe.


Today, they are a threatened species in the UK. In Scotland, they are only found in one part of Fife. In England, they are found within a few reserves.


But, across the UK, these animals are threatened with extinction.


#9 Newts



Newts are a species of amphibian.


There are over 100 known species of Newts living in the world today. These animals are widespread throughout the world, as they are found in Europe, North America, Asia and North Africa. They are found in places where there are brooks and streams.


#8 Nightjars



Nightjars, like their names suggest, are a small noctournal bird.


Nightjars can be found throughout most of the world, in both the Southern and Northern hemispheres. They can be found throughout Europe, the Americas, Australia and most of Africa and Asia. These birds being widespread throughout the world shows how resilent and successful they are; not many animals are as successful as Nightja


#7 Napus



Napus are a cute small animal that are found in Asia.


They are also known as Greater Mouse-Deers.


Greater Mouse-Deers are found in some of the worlds most famous rainforests. Such as, the Borneo rainforest and the Sumatran rainforest, which means these animals live in the same rainforests that animals like Borneo Orangutans, Sumatran Tigers and Sumatran Rhinos.


#6 North American Black Bears



North American Black Bears are native to North America.


These beautiful animals are found within the United States and Canada.


When female North American Black Bears are pregnant, they are pregnant for most of the year. The average time that a female North American Black Bear is pregnant is 220 days.


#5 Nightingales



Nightingales are beautiful animals that are found throughout the Northern Hemisphere.


Despite their name, Nightingales are not a nocturnal animal.


Nightingales are most active during the early morning and around dawn.


#4 Nurse Sharks



Nurse Sharks are both unique looking and funny looking.


They have two eyes at the front of their face and a large mouth in the center of their face.


Female Nurse Sharks give birth to a lot of babies (the babies of Nurse Sharks are known as pups). After the end of a female Nurse Sharks pregnancy, she will give birth to between 25-28 babies.


#3 Numbats



Numbats are an endangered animal found in Australia.


These cute animals have a similar fur pattern to the, now extinct, Tasmanian Tiger.


These cute animals are one of the rarest animals in the world, as they are found nowhere else in the world but Australia. They were once found throughout Australia. However, today, these cute animals are now only found within small pockets of the country.


#2 Norwegian Forest Cat



Norwegian Forest Cats come in a variety of different colours.


From oranges, to blacks, whites and more; these cats are found in a variety of different colours.


Norwegian Forest Cats also have a pretty cool history, as they are historically linked to the Vikings. It's thought that the Vikings were the first ones to bring Norwegian Cats to Norway.


#1 Narwhals



Narwhals are one of the world's most unique animals.


They have a long large 'tusk' which stretches right out in front of their face. Because they have a long 'tusk' which makes these animals look like a unicorn, it makes Narwhals also known as the Unicorns of the Sea.
