The International Fund For Animals Welfare (IFAW) is calling for koalas to now be protected. The IFAW is calling for koalas to be protected by changing the conservation status of koalas to one were koalas are classified as an endangered species.

Koalas currently aren't listed as an endangered species. Right now, koalas are listed as a vulnerable species. This means that koalas are vulnerable to extinction, and. that they are one step away from becoming an endangered species.

Koalas were vulnerable to extinction before the recent Australian bushfires started. Their population was also decreasing before the Australian bushfires took place. The recent Australian bushfires have took a devastating toll on Australia's wildlife. It is estimated that one billion animals died in the Australian bushfires of 2019-2020. The fires have took a toll on many different species of animals in Australia, including taking a toll on the country's koalas.

Some of the most heartbreaking scenes to come out of Australia in recent months has been how the bushfires have affected koalas. But, at the same time, some of the most heartwarming scenes to come out of Australia in recent months is how people have helped koalas.
