The Species Of Ravens Found In The World 💜


Beautiful Raven

Ravens are amazing animals. They are beautiful, and they are one of the most intelligent animals in the world.


There are several different raven species in the world.


There are sadly three different raven species that have already gone extinct. These three raven species are - the New Zealand Raven, the Pied Raven, and, the Chatham Raven. There are other species of ravens which still exist today.


We are going to look at the different amazing species which are found in the world today. Starting with, the common raven!


Common Ravens

Common Raven

Common ravens are found living in most of Europe. Although they are found in the UK, the are mostly found living in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Ravens are found in a few places in England, they are mostly absent from most of England.


Common ravens are one of the most successful animals in the world, as they are also found in Canada, the USA, central America, some parts of the middle east, and some parts of Northern Africa.


They are both successful and intelligent animals.


Conservation Status: 'Least Concern'.


Australian Raven


Australian Raven

The Australian raven looks very similar to their common raven cousins.


As their name suggests, these beautiful birds are only found in Australia. They are found throughout most of Australia, but are absent from much of the North-west of the country, and the island of Tasmania.


There are two subspecies of Australian ravens in the world, these two subspecies are the forest raven and the little raven.


Conservation status: 'Least Concern'.


White-necked Raven

White-necked ravens are a bit distinct from the other two raven species we've looked at so far. Most notably, you can see their distinction in their beak, which is a larger looking beak than the other two raven species have.


What also is distinct about them, is that they have a white patch on the back of their neck, which is probably why they are named White-necked ravens.


This raven species is found living in mostly eastern Africa, but they are also found in South Africa too.

Brown-Necked Raven

Brown-Necked Ravens look pretty similar to common ravens and Australian ravens, but they are distinct with their noticeable with their brown feathers shinning through. The


These beautiful birds are found living in Northern Africa and some parts of the middle east. Like other ravens, the brown-necked raven eats carrion, but they also impressively feast on snakes too.


The dwarf raven was once thought to be a subspecies of these ravens, however, it's now believed that they are more closely related to the pied crow.


Conservation Status: 'Least Concern'.


Thick -Billed Raven

The thick-billed raven could easily be mistaken for a vulture.


They have the look of both a vulture and a raven, and, they also happen to be the largest species of raven in the world.


They are only found in a small part of Africa, to the east of Africa, where they are found living in Ethiopia, Somalia, and, Eritrea.

Fan-Tailed Raven

The fan-tailed raven is another beautiful raven species.


These amazing birds are found living in a large part of Eastern Africa, and parts of the middle east. They seem to be pretty hardy birds, as they are also found living in the Sahara desert, which seems like a hostile environment to live in.


A cool fact about these ravens is that they apparently sound like a frog!s


Chihuahuan Raven


Finally, last but not least the Chihuahuan raven.


The Chihuahuan raven is a beautiful raven species which is found living in some parts of Southern USA and some parts of Mexico too. They look very similar to common ravens.


They eat foods like cactus fruits and reptiles too.

There are many beautiful, intelligent and amazing species of ravens that are found all around the world today, where they are found living on most of the world's continents.


They show themselves to be a very successful bird, which has adapted to live in a variety of different climates and ecosystems, they are also intelligent animals, which is why they are probably so successful and widespread. are


Ravens are wonderful animals and we are lucky to share our world with them. 💜
