A petition to ban plastic lawns in the UK closes in 5 days time.

This petition is important because plastic lawns are harmful to both the environment and wildlife.
When people put down plastic lawns, animals like birds and hedgehogs cannot get food like worms, the fake lawns cover the ground and prevent animals from accessing food to eat.
When people put fake lawns in, they are contributing to the decline in wildlife, especially wildlife that is often found in our gardens, like birds and hedgehogs.
Fake lawns are also harmful to the environment, due to the chemicals used in them and the use of plastic from them contributes to plastic pollution.
Plastic pollution is harmful to wild animals and ecosystems, it has been found that wild animals ingest plastics, get tangled and stuck in them, and, they also pollute ecosystems.
We have seen big declines in our wildlife -there have been big declines in the hedgehog and bird populations.
Due to the big declines in our wildlife, and the destruction of ecosystems, our gardens are more important than ever for wildlife. Which means making our gardens wildlife-friendly is important and can help reverse the decline we have seen in wildlife.
