There is sad news, as koalas have been declared an endangered species.
Koalas are one of the cutest animals in the animal kingdom.
They are well-known for being an icon of Australia and are one of Australia's most well-loved and famous animals. Sadly, they are now in trouble.
These cute marsupials have now been declared endangered.
Koalas have been declared an endangered species in parts of the country by the Australian Government. The part of Australia where koalas have been declared as an endangered species is the east coast of Australia.
The WWF says:
''The koala is endangered, whether listed that way or not.''
In other words, the WWF has declared that koalas are an endangered species across all of Australia, even if they are not yet, declared one.
This means that koalas are sadly at risk of becoming extinct in the future. Koalas face threats to their existence. These threats include wildfires, being killed on roads and habitat destruction. Saving koalas means addressing and stopping the threats that they face in the modern world. The threats that koalas face are both to do with the destruction of the natural world, and, climate change.
To save koalas, we need to stop the destruction of the natural world in Australia and stop climate change, otherwise, we could see these cute animals becoming extinct.
