Today is International Lynx Day; Happy International Lynx Day!
Lynx are species of cats that are found in many parts of the world today. Lynx are found living within three continents in the world in the wild. These three continents are - Europe, Asia and North America.
Not all of the Lynx species are found on all of these continents. And, many Lynx species are only found in small parts of the continent.
These are the Lynx species and where they are found in the wild:
Eurasian Lynx: Found in Europe and Asia in the wild.
Iberian Lynx: Found in Spain and Portugal in the wild.
Canada Lynx: Found in Canada and small areas of the North of the USA.
Bobcats: Found in Canada, the USA and Mexico.
International Lynx Day is a great day to celebrate these beautiful cats.
It helps us to appreciate these beautiful cats too and that they share this beautiful planet with us. These beautiful cats are found in ecosystems like forests.
Protecting ecosystems like forests and leaving them standing, not only protects the worlds beautiful forests, it also helps to protect and save the home of Lynxes and other animals that live within forests.
Forests are magical and beautiful places, the animals that live within forests - like Lynxes - helps to make ecosystems like forests magical and beautiful.
We need to save forests, to save Lynxes and stop them from becoming extinct.
There are only four Lynx species in the world.
Here is the conservation status of the four Lynx species today:
Iberian Lynx: Endangered species
Eurasian Lynx: Least Concern
Canada Lynx: Least Concern
Bobcats: Least Concern
Happy International Lynx Day!
