Today in our Christmas advent calendar, we are celebrating seals!
Seals are one of the cutest animals in the animal kingdom - especially baby seals, like the picture above. There are many different species of seals that are found throughout the world. Seals are found in the Northern hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere. They exist in countries like the UK, Canada, and Iceland.
Some species of seals have already gone extinct. For example, two species of seals that are extinct today are the Caribbean monk seal and the Japanese sea lion. The Caribbean monk seal was declared extinct in 2008.
There are still many beautiful seal species that can be found in the wild today. There are two different species of seals in the UK. The two different species of seals are called the common seal and the grey seal.
