SeaWorld Is To End Its Performers Standing And Surfing Dolphins 🐬

SeaWorld: Dolphins

SeaWorld says that it is to end it's performers standing on and surfing Dolphins. SeaWorld is to end their human performers from standing on Dolphins noses and backs - something that should have been banned long ago, as Dolphins, and other animals shouldn't be used like props or unwilling performers as it's it's unnatural for the animals and likely causes the animals distress. A veterinarian who visited SeaWorld suggested that Dolphins could be suffering from stress and disease.

The stress and disease that the Dolphins may have experienced could result from several different things at SeaWorld. These different things including: 1) being in an unnatural, isolated and small environment which is far different from their ocean home - such things can cause animals distress and even disease, 2) performing unnatural and cruel tricks is also likely to cause animals at SeaWorld, like Dolphins, distress because they are being forced to perform tricks that they wouldn't otherwise do in the wild, and probably don't want to do in captivity, and, 3) disease could be spread in animals like Dolphins at SeaWorld because of the small containers they they are kept in, as well as people being allowed to pet Dolphins without washing their hands - such a thing could result in diseases spreading quickly.

SeaWorld: Dolphins

It was PETA who called on SeaWorld to end their Dolphin shows that resulted in Dolphins being stood on and used like surfboards. PETA is a shareholder in SeaWorld, which means that they can influence decisions made by the company. PETA announced on the 5th of February this year that it's campaign to end Dolphins being used in cruel shows as surfboards and shows where the Dolphins were stood on by performers, had been a success.

It is a major victory for Dolphins at SeaWorld!

But, there is still more to do when it comes to helping animals at SeaWorld. Animals including Dolphins, Orcas, Otters and Sea Lions are held captive in SeaWorld and they should be in their natural habitat. Sea Lions and Otters are also forced to perform at SeaWorld - sadly, the use of Sea Lions and Otters at SeaWorld is often overlooked or not realized.

But, you can help animals in SeaWorld.

One of the best ways to help animals at SeaWorld is by boycotting SeaWorld itself. By boycotting SeaWorld, you show SeaWorld that you are not willing to give them money to exploit and use animals.

Another way that you can help animals at SeaWorld, is by raising awareness about them. Raising awareness about animals at SeaWorld helps them, because, if more people know about how animals are treated at SeaWorld, then more people can pressure SeaWorld to stop using animals.

You can also help animals at SeaWorld by joining PETA's campaign which is urging SeaWorld to stop using animals and to send its animals to sanctuaries. Sending SeaWorld's animals to sancturies can help these beautiful animals to live the rest of their lives out in peace and humanley.

Finally, you can help animals at SeaWorld by watching the documentary Blackfish: please also share the Blackfish trailer with others!

Thank you! 🐬
