Bumblebees are going extinct, according to a new report from the University of Ottawa in Canada. The new study into bumblebees was posted by the University of Ottawa on the 6th of February this year.
The new report said that Bumblebees are now going extinct at a time of climate chaos. It says that Bumblebees and other animals are at risk of extinction because of climate change, or, what they are calling: ''climate chaos''.
The University of Ottawa Said:
âWe have now entered the worldâs sixth mass extinction event, the biggest and most rapid global biodiversity crisis since a meteor ended the age of the dinosaurs.â
The Sixth Mass Extinction event is a threat to all life on Earth. Last year, the UN said that ONE MILLION species are now at risk of extinction in the future. The UN estimates that one million animals could now go extinct within the next few decades. And last month, the UN said that we only have 10 years now to stop the biodiversity crisis that we are in and the Sixth Mass Extinction.
There are many species of wild animals that are known to be endangered today and are at risk of extinction in the future - such as Tigers and Pandas.
Insects, including Bumblebees, are not immune from becoming extinct within the next few decades. In fact, the University of Ottawa report says that Bumblebees are at risk of extinction within the next few decades and they could disappear forever if current declines in Bumblebees continue.
There Is Hope For The Future
Although Bumblebees could become extinct in the future if current declines keep happening, there is still hope for the future, as the university said that we still have time to act to save Bumblebees from extinction.
To save Bumblebees, we need to stop climate change, we also need to preserve the habitats of Bumblebees if they are going to survive for the future.
How Can You Help To Save Bumblebees?
You can help Bumblebees by planting flowers in your garden, or outside your home in other ways. If you want to know which flowers to plant so that you can help Bumblebees, then you can read this article by the RSPB: Grow Flowers that Bees Love!
Another way that you can help Bumblebees, is by joining the Bumblebee Conservation Trust: you can join the Bumblebee Conservation Trust here!
Finally, one last way that you can help Bumblebees, is by putting a bee hive in your garden. You can find bee hives on Amazon, like the one below.
