Snowy Owls 🦉

Snowy Owls are gorgeous big birds that belong to the Strigidae family. The Strigidae family is one of two Owl family groups; the other Owl family group is known as the Tytonidae family. The Tytonidae family is barn Owls. The Strigidae family is known as 'true Owls'. There are a total of 190 different species of Owls within the Strigidae family, the Snowy Owl is one of those species of Owl.

Where Are Snowy Owls Found?

Snowy Owls cover a wide range, they are found throughout the top of the Northern Hemisphere. Snowy Owls are found in cold climates in places like: Russia, Canada, Scandinavia, Greenland and more.

The Camouflage Of Snowy Owls

Due to the cold climate that Snowy Owls live in, these birds have the perfect camouflage. Their white feathers makes it incredibly hard to see these Owls upon the backdrop of snow. This would offer the birds protection and it would help them disguise when they are hunting for food.

Snowy Owls mainly eat small rodents like Lemmings in the wild.

These animals are classed as being vulnerable, which means that Snowy Owls are vulnerable to extinction and one step away from becoming an endangered species.
