The Nilgiri Long-Tailed Tree Mouse is a native mouse species to India.

This cute little mouse belongs to the animal family known as the 'Muirdae', or 'Muirds' for short. The Muirdae is made up of different rodent species, this includes mice, rats and other rodent species. In total, there is estimated to be 730 species of Muirdae throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia.

The Muirdae family are mammals.

The Nigilgiri Long-Tailed Tree Mouse is very rare, they are only found in two separate areas of India. Today these cute little animals are endangered.

The population of the Nigilgiri Long-Tailed Tree Mouse is declining, but it's unclear what their population is today.

These cute little animals are found in forests.

What Threats Do They Face Today?

These animals sadly face many threats today. Two of the main threats that they face today are deforestation and pollution.
