Where Is The Chacoan Pecarry Found?

Like all of the Pecarries, the Chacoan Pecarry is found in the Americas. The Chacoan Pecarry is found in South America, they can be found in South American countries like Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay.

What Is The Habitat Of These Animals?

Chacoan Pecarries are found living within shurbland and savanna land in the few countries that they live in.

What Do These Animals Eat In The Wild?

These animals are herbivores, so they only eat plants. While they do eat plants, their diet is very restricted - mostly these animals are found eating different species of cactus plants while in the wild.

They also eat some other native plants.

What Threats Do They Face To Their Existence?

These animals face several threats to their existence. One of the main threats that they face today is habitat loss and destruction.

In 2017 it was reported that we were running out of time to save the Chacoan Pecarry and their habitat. While these animals aren't extinct today, it doesn't look as if much has changed for their population. The Chacoan Pecarry population has halved in just three generations, according to the 'World Land Trust'. It's estimated that their population is between 3,000 and 5,000 animals.
