What Threats Are There To Tasmanian Devils?
There are several threats to Tasmanian Devils, which is why these cute animals are endangered. Two of the main threats to Tasmanian Devils are people trapping them and invasive species entering their habitats.
Tasmanian Devils also could suffer from Australia bushfires in the near future. It is unclear if any Tasmanian Devils have been affected by the recent Australia bushfires, however, in December last year, there was fires in Tasmania.
Tasmanian Devils also face another threat, this Summer in Australia has seen a death in young Tasmanian Devils due to a contagious cancer in the animals and young animals leaving their dens and sadly ending up as roadkill. It's so bad that 80% of Tasmanian Devils have been estimated to have been killed and scientists are now warning about the future of the animals.
What Is The Population Of The Animals?
Due to being at risk from a contagious cancer, roadkill and being at risk from their low population and endangered species status, Tasmanian Devils could become extinct in the future.
The population of Tasmanian Devils is between 15,000 and 50,000 animals.
