How You Can Take The Veganuary Pledge On The Last Week Of January!

Vegan

There is just one more week of January left, and Veganuary is in full swing! There is still a chance for you to take part in Veganuary, if you haven't already!

What Is Veganuary?

Veganuary is an annual event which now takes places every year during January. It is an event which encourages and helps people become vegan for the month of January. On the Veganuary website, they will give you delicious recipes that you can try, and food guides to help you become vegan.

Why Should You Take Part In Veganuary?

There are many reasons why you should consider taking part in Veganuary. One of the main reasons to take part, is to help animals. A vegan diet helps animals because it stops the suffering and exploitation that animals go through when they are killed for meat, or used for animal byproducts - such as eggs and milk. A vegan diet can create a more compassionate world.

Another reason to consider taking part in Veganuary, is, that by doing so, you can help the environment. Last year a report was published that said eating meat had dire consequences for the planet, due to its impact on the environment. Eating meat is so bad for the environment that the same amount of emissions are caused by the meat industry and all vehicles in the world.

The amount of emissions created by the meat industry isn't the only reason why eating meat is harmful to the environment. Another reason why eating meat is harmful to the environment is because of the devastating impact it has on the natural world - eating meat, particularly beef, is resulting in the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest. A major reason why the Amazon rainforest is destroyed every year - usually by fire - is down farmers clearing land so they can use it to raise cattle on.

This meat that comes from the Amazon is shipped all around the world. A new report by Greenpeace published recently found that Europeans are causing the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest because of their demand for meat.

By becoming vegan, you can help reduce deforestation.

A final reason why you should consider going vegan is for your health. According to the NHS, a vegetarian OR vegan diet can be 'very healthy'. In saying that though, they also recommed a balanced diet and taking vitamins to make sure that you have a balanced diet. But, if done right, having a plant based diet can be a healthy way to live.

Why Do People Take Part In Veganuary?

There are many reasons why people choose to take part in Veganuary. This year has already been a record breaking year for Veganuary, at the start of January, already 350,000 people had signed up to take part in Veganuary, from all around the world. So far, people from 178 countries have took part since the event began. This is a huge increase from last year, when 250,000 people took part in Veganuary in 2019.

According to Veganuary's own website, most of those who took part in Veganuary done so for health reasons - almost half, 46%, said that they took part in Veganuary to benefit their health. The second most popular reason that people took part in Veganuary, was for animals. A total of 34% of people choose to take part to help animals. The third most popular reason, was due to peoples concerns about the environment - 12% of participants took part for the environment. And, the last 8% took part for other reasons.

How Can You Take Part In Veganuary?
