2019 Was Australia's Hottest Year On Record, By Being 1.5c Warmer

Climate Change

2019 was Australia's Warmest year on record and was 1.52c warmer than pre-industrial levels, according to the Australian government.

The government also says that the highest temperature recorded in Australia was 2.09c warmer than the average median temperature.

It was not just Australia's warmest year on record, it was also Australia's driest year on record. This dry weather has resulted in droughts across Australia. The droughts have been so bad, that the droughts may be the worst droughts Australia has had over the last 800 years.

Both the droughts and warm weather have played a significant role in the recent Australian bushfires. The recent Australian bushfires have been extremley devestating for Australia's wildlife, where it is estimated that over one billion animals have been killed because of the fires.
