The UK Recorded Its Warmest Temperature For December Last Month

The UK has recorded its warmest December record ever - the UK Met Office has confirmed.

The new warmest temperature for December in the UK was set in Achfary in the Scottish highlands. The new temperature record set was an unseasonably high temperature of 18.7c. This temperature was recorded in Achfary during the 28th of December 2019.

This temperature is not just sensational for the time of year it was recorded, but also because of the time that it was recorded - this record temperature was recorded at 3am in the Scottish highlands, when temperatures around that time year are supposed to around zero degrees.

It wasn't the only eye-opening weather event that happened during the UK in 2019: we also had a heatwave in February when the UK's hottest ever February day was recorded, and we also had a Summer heatwave that lasted throughout the Summer of 2019, breaking several records in the process.
