Australia is to ban cosmetic testing on animals!
Australia has passed a bill to ban cosmetic testing on animals by early 2020. Cosmetic testing on animals will end in Australia through the Industrial Chemicals Bill (2017), which will see cosmetic testing on animals banned in the country on the 1st of January 2020. This is a huge victory for animal rights in Australia, and hopefully other countries who haven't banned cosmetic testing on animals yet, can follow Australia's lead to create a world which is more compassionate for the animals we share the world with.
The Industrial Chemicals Bill (2017) will not only ban cosmetic testing on animals, it will also ban the sale of cosmetic products which have been tested on animals, in Australia.
Nearly 40 countries have already banned cosmetic testing on animals. However, most countries haven't banned cosmetic testing on animals. Although we have, and are making progress when it comes to this issue, there is still a long way to go, as 80% of countries have still not banned cosmetic testing on animals today. However, there are calls for there to be a worldwide ban on cosmetic products which are tested on animals, which could help bring about an end to cosmetic testing on animals in the future.
In the mean time, you can help animals, without using cosmetic products which are not tested on animals.
Thankfully, there are many products which are not tested on animals. Cruelty free products have the leaping bunny logo on them. The leaping bunny local is by Cruelty Free International, they are an animal rights company which approves cosmetic products. Products which are approved by Cruelty Free International are given the leaping bunny logo, and this shows the product is cruelty free.
Well done Australia in banning cosmetic testing on animals! đ
