The Polar Bear

Polar Bears are the most iconic animals of the Arctic!

Despite Polar Bears being a very recognizable of the Arctic; sadly they are under threat. These animals are threatened with extinction. Polar Bears are faced with extinction due to melting sea ice; essentially they are at risk of extinction from climate change.

Climate change is a risk to these animals due to their reliance on sea ice. The Polar Bears habitat is made up of sea ice and ice, if that melts - then the habitat of the Polar Bear will disappear. And, it is thought that the Polar Bear could become extinct faster than thought, because of melting sea ice and climate change.

Currently, the population of Polar Bears are between 22,000 and 31,000, which puts them in a vulnerable position.

Watch how climate change is already affecting Polar Bears...
