Today, the 29th of October is National Cat Day. A day to celebrate the fluffy felines we share our lives with. It is also a day to raise awareness about cats; specifically to raise awareness about homeless cats.
Homeless Cats
There are thousands of homeless cats which sadly don't have a home. These cats are left to live in shelters, sometimes for weeks and at other times for months. These can be considered the lucky cats.
The unlucky homeless cats have a worse fate. Their fate is waiting on cat death row. Every day, cats are on death row because they do not have a home. If they do not find a home within a short period of time, they are killed at the 'shelter' they are at.
Whether or not cats are put on death row is down to what country the cats are in. Some countries will not have death row cats, while other countries do have death row cats. The United States have many cats which are on death row, which are looking for homes each night. If they don't find an adopter or someone who will foster the cat, then they will be killed by the 'shelter.'
How Can You Help Death Row Cats?
There are several ways that you can help death row cats. The obvious ways that you can help them is to either adopt the cats or foster the cats. But, this is not the only way that you can help these animals.
There are other ways that you can help these animals.
Another way which you can help save them is by donating to save them. All you have to do is donate to the charity which helps these cats. This alone can help save thousands of pets every year.
Preventing Cat Homelessness
A good way to prevent cat homelessness is through responsible ownership. If you have a cat, then get them spayed or neutered. Getting your cat spayed and neutered will help decrease cat homelessness. This is because cat homelessness can often occur because people let their cat have kittens that they do not want. The kittens then end up homeless in shelters.
Just neutering and spaying your cat can prevent many lives being lost and prevent many cats and kittens from ending up homeless.
Happy National Cat Day!
