Five Facts About Red Foxes 🦊


Foxes are one of the most common wild animals. In this post, we are going to look at five facts about foxes. Or, more to the point, five facts about the red fox. There are different species of fox, the red fox is just one of those species. In total, there are 37 different types of fox species. With 12 fox species being the main type of fox species. Here are some of the main fox species around the world: #1 The Red Fox #2 The Arctic Fox #3 The Fennec Fox #4 The Grey Fox #5 The Marble Fox #6 The Silver Fox #7 The Cross Fox

Now that you have looked at some of the main fox species, let's look at five facts about the red fox. #1 The Red Fox is an omnivore

​The red fox does not only eat meat, therefore, they are not carnivores. This type of fox is an omnivore. Meaning that they will eat: vegetables, fruits, worms, meats and rodents. Foxes will almost eat anything. They are like many birds that way.

#2 The Red Fox lifespan

The Red Fox has a surprisingly short lifespan for a mammal. This type of fox, if and when they reach adulthood, will only live for two to four years. Most fox cubs will not make it to adulthood. Like other wild animals, wild fox cubs face many challenges to survive. Most don't make it.

#3 The Red Fox on the species list

The species list rates animals to most at risk of extinction, to least at risk of extinction. The species list is done by the IUCN (The Red List Of Endangered Species.) There are seven lists on the species list. They are (1) Least Concern, (2) Near Threatened, (3) Vulnerable, (4) Endangered, (5) Critically Endangered, (6) Extinct In The Wild, (7) Extinct. The Red Fox is of least concern. However, this does not mean that the red fox doesn't face challenges or persecution. They do. The IUCN (The Red List Of Endangered Species) lists animals on their numbers. Specifically their numbers in the wild.

#4 Fox Village in Japan

There is a Fox village in Japan. The Fox village in Japan is also known as the Zao Fox Village. It is located in Miyagi prefecture. And is home to six different types of fox species. The foxes at Fox village are often fed by tourists who pay to see the foxes and feed them. The attraction may be controversial with some animal rights activists. But, the Foxes look at if they are treated well, they are certainly starving.

#5 Foxes are awesome

The last fact is, foxes are awesome. This is a well-known fact! 😉
