The wildlife charity the WWF is calling for more protection for penguins, as the animals face new alarming threats during the Summer months. Penguins face threats from unusual extensive sea ice throughout the Antartica. The result of the unusual sea is in Antartica, was just two penguin chicks surviving our of around 18,000. The penguin disaster has resulted in the WWF calling for more protections for penguins in the Antartica. The protections are wanted to ensure that penguins survive; to protect fish stock from fishing fleets so that they have food to eat. This would prevent them from having to wander further from their homes to catch foods. And therefore, it would stop things like this happening - thousands of penguin birds dying. The penguin birds died through starvation, as their parents were forced to go further afield than normal, to fish for food.
