Wales is set to ban wild animals in circuses. This would make Wales the third part of the United Kingdom proposing to ban wild animals in circuses.
Scotland has already voted for a ban. It legislated last year that it would ban wild animals in circuses.
England has also proposed that it would ban wild animals in circuses. However, this is still to happen. England proposed a ban when David Cameron was Prime Minister.
Years have passed since then, yet there is no sign of a ban. Whether the promise to ban wild animals in circuses in England, remains to be seen.
This leaves Northern Ireland, which is the only part of the UK not to have proposed to ban wild animals in circuses. Though it did propose to ban them a few years ago, but a deal wasn't reached.
The Welsh government will bring forward legislation to ban the circuses. Most of the Welsh public are in favour of a ban. According to a recent YouGov survey, 74% of people in Wales wanted a ban on wild animals in circuses. Therefore, a ban in Wales seems likely!
