What Is The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch?

The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, is an annual bird watching event where people all over the UK help to monitor wild bird populations. People who take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch will watch wild birds for an hour, in their garden or a nearby park, and record the number of birds they have seen in that hour. They will record the bird species that they have seen and the number of species they seen it that hour.

Doing this helps wildlife conservationists record bird populations and compare the bird populations in 2018 with previous year. The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch helps you to help nature.

Helping Other Animals with RSPB The Big Garden Birdwatch

The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is not just about helping birds, it’s also about helping other wild animals. These other wild animals include animals such as mammals and amphibians. So, write down how many Hedgehogs that you usually see when they are outside of hibernation. Or, how many foxes you see at night time.

When You See No Animals During The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch

What happens when you see no animals during the Big Garden Birdwatch? Say for example you don’t see a specific animal such as a blue tit, write it down. Write down that you didn’t see any Blue Tits.
