It's nearly Christmas, and, it is a season where some people will buy pets as a present to give others.
While it's understandable why people would want pets in their life - they are cute and loving - it's wise to think of the long term if you are bringing a pet into your life.
Not just the short term.
Giving pets as a gift on Christmas is just thinking of the short term, when bringing a pet into our life we should always think of the long term - having a pet should be for life and not just for Christmas.
Sadly, too many pets are abandoned after Christmas is over, which isn't fair on the pets themselves, but also increase the demand for pets, which means an increase in pets being abandoned and homeless.
Pets are not a seasonal gift, nor are they a fashion accessory, they are living beings who should be cared for and looked after. When getting a pet, we should always think of the long term and be responsible - it's easy to get wrapped up in the Christmas spirit and only think about the joy of Christmas and the joy that Christmas presents can give, but, when it comes to pets, you should remember that there is a life after Christmas.
Please don't buy a pet for Christmas, and if you are thinking of getting a pet please only adopt one from an animal shelter.
Thank you. 🐾
