Happy World Otter Day!

Otter

Today is World Otter Day; Happy World Otter Day!

Otters are very cute animals. They are found in many different parts of the world, including - Europe, North America and South America.

There are 13 different otter species in the world. These otter species include - the Eurasian otter, the sea otter, the marine otter, the North American river otter, the Southern river otter, the Smooth-coated otter, the giant otter and many more.

The giant otter is the world's largest living otter today.

Giant otters are found in South America. They are largely found living within the Amazon rainforest. These cool otters were once thought to be extinct in the wild in Argentina, however, recently, a giant otter was discovered in the wild in Argentina. It offers hope that there may be more giant otters living in the wild in Argentina.

Today, giants otters are an endangered species.

The deforestation of the Amazon rainforest harms animals like giant otters. Another fate that giant otters have faced is being poached for their meat; they have also been trapped in the wild and sold off as pets.

Sadly, other otter species have been trapped and sold off as pets - this takes otters out of their natural habitat and prevents them from being free.

World Otter Day

World Otter Day is a great day to raise awareness about otters and the challenges that they face in the modern world.

By raising awareness about otters, we can help protect otters and the ecosystems that they live within. By doing this, we will also be protecting other animals too that live within the same ecosystems that otters do. Otters are found within water ecosystems and, they also come on land too, which makes these cute animals semi-aquatic.

Otters can also be found in rivers.

World Otter Day is not just a good day to raise awareness about these charismatic animals, it's also a good day to celebrate the world's otters.

World Otter Day is celebrated on the 26th of May this year.

Happy World Otter Day!
