There is a new species of Orangutan which has been discovered. The new species is called the Tapanuli orangutan and was found in their home; the Sumatran rainforest in Indonesia. Although this is an excellent new discovery for the natural world, it's not all good news. This new animal species of Orangutan is already critically endangered, with only around 800 of them thought to be existing in the Sumatran rainforest. Like other animal species in the Sumatran rainforest in Indonesia, this new animal faces threats, such as deforestation and being hunted. The newly found Orangutan is the world's eighth great ape, known to us. Could there be others within the rainforests?
