UN Report Shows That The Planet Is Losing Wild Animal And Plant Species At An Alarming Rate

The report says that the Earth is losing wild animals, wild plant species and clean water at an alarming rate.

The UN studied the Earth's oceans, forests and other ecosystem to find the alarming findings. They also looked at the biodiversity of each ecosystem, which reaffirms the findings.

The biodiversity of each ecosystem is degrading at an alarming rate, due to things such as habitat destruction, pressure on water ecosystems, air pollution and the threat of climate change.

Here are some of the most worrying findings for each continent:

Africa:

Predictions that Africa will lose half of it's bird and mammal species from the wild within the next 80 years.

Asia:

There's been a serious decline in biodiversity; coral reefs are particularly suffering badly through bleaching.

Europe:

Almost half of all European species have declined.

There are 50% fewer wetlands in Europe compared to the 1970s.
